Synopsis:

Objectives: 1.be able to interrogate the intention within their work, submitting it to critical scrutiny and either defending it or modifying it against such scrutiny; 2.be able to argue in favour of their chosen working method; 3.be able to argue the contemporary relevance of their work; 4.have a self-critical understanding of their practice, especially with respect to ideological issues like gender, class and ethnicity.

Assessment: Preliminary assignment on studio proposal (1500 words) 25% + Seminar paper (4500 words) 75%

Contact Hours: 12-hours per week including one 2-hour seminar plus 10-hours of independent study

Prerequisites: admission to MVA
