Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of the unit, students should have the skills essential to constructing a simple research proposal in a variety of areas and have acquired initial critical reading skills applicable to both text and score.

Assessment: Seminar participation: 10% + Weekly annotations (300 words) x 13: 30% + Thesis proposal (1,000 words): 15% + Research essay (5,000 words): 45%
