Applied Music: Arranging, Ensemble Leadership and Conducting (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have gained an introduction to ensemble direction and management through the development of composition/arranging skills, baton techniques, score preparation and rehearsal techniques for both standard and diverse ensemble orchestrations.

Assessment: Written (3000 words): 30% + Practical performance and arrangement/composition (6000 words equivalent): 70%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar and 1 x 1 hour tutorial) per week
