Contemporary Compositional Techniques (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have a knowledge of techniques used in contemporary musical composition in relation to film music composition, modal techniques in composition and techniques related to studio based recording and composition. In addition, students will be able to analyse works representative of the genres covered.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Essay/Analysis (1000 words): 20% + Essay (1000 words): 20% + Group activities and attendance (equivalent 500 words): 20%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour lecture) per week

Prerequisites: MUS2110, MUS2120
