Performance Studies: Early Music Ensemble (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to direct a small ensemble from score to performance and have absorbed appropriate participatory ensemble behaviour for both rehearsal and performance environments. Additionally, students should be able to reflect upon performance practice problems and articulate solutions in written form.

Assessment: Exercise (1000 words): 20% + Essay (1500 words): 30% + Practical examination (1 hour): 10% + Ensemble performance (1 hour): 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 1 hour lecture and 1 x 1 hour tutorial) per week
