Health risk management and communication (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this subject participants will: 1. understand and apply the process of risk decision-making to a series of case studies relating to current health concerns involving food, water, soil and air; 2. competently evaluate and interpret the scientific literature in relation to health issues and be able to effectively communicate this information to others; 3. show familiarity with the principles and procedures that need to be considered and adopted to ensure the community is adequately informed; and 4. have developed an appreciation that any policies devised to reduce or prevent health risks need to be cost effective.

Assessment: Assignments + Oral presentation + Examination
