Synopsis:
Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to: 1. demonstrate an understanding of the Australian health care system and public and private health care sector funding arrangements; 2. demonstrate an understanding of how health care structure may impact on the quality of health care services; 3. manage income, expenditure adn sources of funding; 4. demonstrate an understanding of the management of assets and liabilities; 5. demonstrate skills in analysing financial data and compiling revenue and expenditure statements; 6. analyse the ethical issues surrounding health care resource allocation; 7. analyse the components of health policy development, resource planning and evaluation; 8. identify local, state and national sources of health data; 9. demonstrate an understanding of current health information systems; 10. demonstrate data interpretation skills; 11. analyse how health information can be used for clinical and health policy decision making.
Assessment: Web-based tasks + Written assignments + Group presentation
