Managing community-based HIV programs in developing countries (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: This unit is designed to provide students with a range of skills necessary to effectively manage HIV programs in developing countries and under-resourced communities. Accordingly, at the end of this unit, the students should be able to: 1. Display an understanding of the broad social context of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and global responses to it. 2. Conduct a community needs assessment related to HIV/AIDS. 3. Develop a policy framework and detailed plans for responding to HIV/AIDS. 4. Display an understanding of the key factors affecting behavioural change necessary for the prevention of HIV prevention and care. 7. Design specific strategies that address the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and children. 8. Develp an evaluation plan for HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs.

Assessment: Written assignments + Short answer examination

Contact Hours: 7 day intensive block

Prerequisites: Basic computer proficiency
