Developing clinical teaching & supervision (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to: 1. analyse a range of teaching situations and design appropriate instruction to facilitate learning in these situations; 2. plan teaching programs for small groups, large groups and individuals across a range of contexts and health settings; 3. identify and demonstrate the microskills required for the delivery of instructions to small and large groups; 4. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the vaarius media and delivery modes for educational programs and the determinants for the use of these delivery modes; 5. demonstrate competence in the design, production and judicious use of a range of learning and teaching resources and aids including the use of information technology; 6. appreciate and demonstrate the skills required for supervsion in laboratory and clinical settings, particularly in the one-to-one situation; 7. demonstrate an appreciation of the cultural and ethnic factors that influence communication, learning and teaching in various health settings.

Assessment: One-to-one teaching or supervision (30%) + Small group teaching (40%) + Large group teaching (30%)
