Psycholinguistics and Child Language Acquisition (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon the successful completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of the major theoretical approaches to child language acquisition; demonstrate skills in the analysis and interpretation of child language data; and show an insight into the processes involved in comprehending and producing speech.

Assessment: Written research assignment (2750 words) 50% + Class test (2 hours): 40% + Class participation (equivalent 250 words): 10%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week

Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in Linguistics, English and Communication or a language.
