Synopsis:
Objectives: The aims are to: - Study the law and practice relating to international sale of goods, including the mechanisms and laws dealing with international payment for goods, contracts of carriage and insurance of goods, and related legal problems - Introduce students to the private international law issues relating to international sales, and other related contracts - Give participants an appreciation of the main issues that need to be addressed when negotiating or considering contracts for the international sale of goods, including the principal duties and rights of sellers and buyer - Give participants an insight into the market aspects of commodity transactions - Introuduce students to the impact of E-commerce on international sale of goods mechanisms - Give participants an understanding of the methods of resolving disputes in this area.
Assessment: Take home examination - 50% Research assignment (3750 words) - 50%
