Theories of justice (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Students completing this subject should have a sound understanding of the principal contemporary theories of justice; of the relationships they posit between justice and related values including liberty, equality, rights and the public interest; and of the main arguments for and against each theory. Students should also be able to use this understanding in evaluating legal rules and institutions.

Assessment: Research assignment (3000 words): 40% + Final examination (1.5 hours): 45% + Class participation: 15%
