Occupational health and safety (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this subject students should (1) have an understanding of, and be able to critically evaluate, the methods for prescribing and maintaining standards of safety in the workplace and (2) have an understanding of the role of courts and legislatures in workplace safety.

Assessment: Research assignment (3750 words): 50% + Class participation: 10% + Supervised exam (1 1/2 hours) or take-home examination (no more than 3000 words): 40%

Contact Hours: One 2-hour seminar per week
