Current issues in international environmental protection 406 (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: The seminar format will be used to introduce and explain the core material referred to in the subject description while also identifying key problems and recent challenges in the development of international environmental law. Active student discussion will be encouraged to test students' understanding of the subject matter; to relate the subject matter to the objectives of the course; to stimulate critical debate about recent developments in international law and policy; and to identify possible problems in students' understanding. Selective student presentations will also be commissioned.

Assessment: Research paper (4000 words): 50% + 2-hour take home examination: 50%

Contact Hours: 2nd semester

Prerequisites: Prior studies in environmental law or international law or a comparable unit, LAW1100 Legal Process
