Trusts 406 (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this subject students should be able to 1) understand the role of trusts in the modern environment; 2) explain the circumstances in which a trust should be created and the methods by which this can be done; 3) advise as to the proper administration of trusts, including the role of superannuation trustees and 4) analyse documents creating trusts and be able to describe the operation of those provisions.

Assessment: The methods of assessment in this subject are an optional written assignment (3000 words): 40% and a final examination (2 hours, plus 10 minutes settling \ reading time): 60%. Where the examination is 100% of assessment, 3 hours plus 10 minutes settling \ reading time

Contact Hours: Three hours of lectures per week

Prerequisites: LAW1100 Legal Process, LAW2100 Contract, LAW3400 Property

Corequisites: LAW4169 Equity
