Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. Comprehend and analyse most varieties and registers of language encountered in texts related to topical social issues. 2. Integrate their acquired translation skills with practical knowledge of the translation industry.

Assessment: Translation assignment (2000 words): 50% + Final exam (2 hours): 30% + Class exercises: 20%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) fortnightly classes and 2 hours on-line discussions per week

Prerequisites: KOR2450 or its equivalent
