Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will: 1. Be aware of the latest historical approaches to the study of twentieth century history and of recent major historiographical debates. 2. Be able to effectively use the resources of the internet to prepare material for their own teaching needs. 3. Be aware of a broader range of methods, particularly using electronic resources, for the presentation of historical materials in the classroom. 4. Have a greater understanding of the major themes in twentieth century history, and the ability to develop and defend, in writing, a thematic historical argument using a range of sources. 5. Have developed contacts with other history teachers to facilitate the on-going sharing of ideas and support.

Assessment: Reflective on-line journal (3000 words): 30% + Two group presentations to on-line discussion fora (2000 words in total): 30% + Essay/lesson (4000 words): 40%
