Synopsis:

Objectives: This unit will provide opportunities for students to: 1. examine the premises which produce a range of approaches to inquiry and research; 2. develop skills in the analysis of the differing research paradigms, theories and methodologies used in research; 3. evaluate the strengths and limitations of the paradigms, theories, and methodologies utilised in contemporary research; 4. make an informed choice based on critical appreciation of these paradigms, methodologies and theories for their own research thesis after acquiring the knowledge and techniques employed in initiating a research project.

Assessment: Literature review 30% + Essay 30% + Research proposal 40%
