Techniques in Geography and Environmental Science (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon satisfactory completion of this subject, students will be able to 1. Understand and interpret information from topographical maps, aerial photographs and satellite images as well as acquire basic GIS skills. 2. represent geographic phenomena on a two-dimension space 3. Be able to synthesise and interpret relevant material and to communicate ideas to others in a coherent manner, by either written or verbal means.

Assessment: Written (1000 words): 20% + 2 hour examination (2000 words): 40% + Oral presentation (400 words): 10% + Practical and tutorial assessments (1100 words): 30%

Contact Hours: One one-hour lecture and a three-hour tutorial/practical per week
