Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this course students should have: 1. Acquired an insight into the range of contemporary writing in French across national and cultural boundaries. 2. Developed an understanding of the ways in which the mediation of socio-cultural identity through variations of the French language and forms of French fiction can both inform that identity and shift language and genre boundaries. 3. Developed their language skills in French, especially in the area of exposition and argument, practising those skills in oral presentations and essay-writing.

Assessment: Essay (1200 words in French): 25% + Essay (1500 words in French: 35% + Reading logbook (800 words): 20% + Class paper (1000 words): 20%
