Filming the Nation: (Re)Configuring European National Myths (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: As for EUR3520, with the additional objective that students will develop a critical analysis of competing theories of ideology, myth and national identity and the relationship between film and ideology and myth, so as to develop a theory of national cinema.

Assessment: 2 Seminar papers (1500 words each): 30% + Essay (3500 words): 40% + Take-home exam (2.5 hours equivalent): 30%
