Counselling and psychotherapy interventions (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to: Apply selected in-depth approaches in therapeutic interventions with individuals. Understand the essential concepts of human systems functioning and inter-relational psychodynamics. Demonstrate initial competencies for working with couples and groups. Choose when to use individual, couple, group, or organisational counselling. Demonstrate an understanding of when to refer on in these specialist areas of counselling psychology and psychotherapy

Assessment: One case study of (4000 words): 50% + one essay of (4000 words):50%

Contact Hours: 3 hours each week

Off-campus attendance requirements: Off-campus students must attend a one-week Residential School

Prerequisites: Successful completion of EDF6501 (or exemption for students with proven knowledge and competencies in the field of counselling)
