Method and practice of teaching business management A (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to: understand the role and importance of developing business literacy and enterprise skills in relation to the teaching and learning associated with Business Management in the secondary school context; to explore innovative teaching and learning approaches including the use of information and communications technologies for use in the Business Management classroom; to construct engaging lesson plans which lead to the best possible outcomes for students in the Business Management classroom; to select and evaluate appropriate teaching and learning resources for use in the Business Management classroom; to communicate and or create links with business and professional associations at both the local and international level.

Assessment: Class activities: 50% (2000 words), Resources assignment: 50% (2000 words) + Teaching practice which forms a major part of the assessment of EDF5494 Methods and Practice of Teaching Business Management A and EDF5495 Methods and Practice of Teaching Business Management B, and students must complete at least 45 days teaching practice (50 for double degree students) and gain a rating of satisfactory for the teaching practice.

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: A minor sequence (two years of study) in Business Management studies from a recognised institution
