Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to explain the major methodologies used to assess and monitor health issues and discuss the associations involved in this process; explain major health issues affecting society and their implications for society; apply theories associated with the discipline to the strategies used in management of particular health issues; outline health promotion strategies that can be used to enhance the health of individuals and populations with specific environmental, physical and social constraints; display the ability to integrate health education content within an educational setting and outline how participants might successfully demonstrate learning; discuss issues associated with the ethics, responsibilities and occupations of health educators; outline future trends for health education.

Assessment: Engagement Portfolio: 70% (equivalent of 2800 words) + Negotiated Assignment: 30% (Varied format options. Approx 1200 words)

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week + Note: Clayton students undertake unit by off-campus mode only (via Gippsland)
