Method and Practice of Teaching Physical Education A (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students should have acquired an understanding of curriculum content and issues involved in a Health and Physical Education program; knowledge of the pedagogical and intellectual foundation of Physical Education; an understanding of the psychological and physiological needs of secondary students, particularly those relevant to a Physical Education setting; skill in developing and planning a Physical Education program; and the ability to deliver a program whilst taking into account individual and class needs.

Assessment: Two assignments (1500 words each): 30% each, Journal (1000 words): 40%, and satisfactory completion of practicum

Off-campus attendance requirements: + Note: Clayton students undertake unit by off-campus mode only (Gippsland)

Prerequisites: the equivalent of one year full-time (48 pts) at tertiary level in approved outdoor recreation/education studies
