Synopsis:

Objectives: The main objectives of this unit is to help the participants to become effective SOSE teachers. The unit, which is designed around the weekly lecture and workshops, has been designed to contribute to your ability to increase your students' ability to understand and participate in their society; develop appropriate strategies and techniques for teaching SOSE; devise, adapt, interpret and use courses, units, and learning materials to enhance your classroom strategies; demonstrate an understanding of contemporary trends in Social Education teaching, and continue to explore and develop more effective ways of teaching after your pre-service teacher education.

Assessment: (On-campus students): Assignments: 50% Teaching Practice 50% (4,000 words equivalent) + An 80% attendance requirement so students can fully participate in the workshops + Students must complete at least 45 days teaching practice (50 for double degree students) and gain a rating of satisfactory. (Off-Campus students): Assignments: 50% Teaching Practice 50% (4,000 words equivalent) + Hurdle requirement - students should complete the appropriate SOSE B school experience pro forma
