Synopsis:

Objectives: The objectives of this unit are to understand the role and importance of Economics education in the secondary school context; to explore innovative teaching and learning approaches including the use of information and communications technologies for use in the Economics classroom; to develop engage lesson plans for the Economics classroom; to select and evaluate appropriate teaching and learning resources for use in the Economics classroom.

Assessment: Assignments: 50%, Resources file: 30%, Class activities: 20% + on-campus - student participation in the unit is vital and an 80% attendance requirement is required so students can fully participate in the workshops.

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: A minor sequence (two years of study) in Economics from a recognised institution
