Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have gained an understanding of a variety of educational issues; an understanding of a range of research methods that can be appropriately employed to study them; an understanding of a range of theoretical standpoints from which to frame a research problem and for devising an issue appropriate for investigation; skills in the preparation and design of a research proposal; skills in writing a thesis.

Assessment: Thesis of (12000-15000 words): 100%

Contact Hours: 24 hrs per week workload

Prerequisites: Compulsory studies undertaken in the BEd degree or equivalent studies as approved by the Faculty Research Degrees Committee
