Primary Health and Physical Education (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit, students should be able to have developed competencies in Health Education and Physical Education curriculum; developed critical and reflective thinking skills in the analysis of Health and Physical Education in a variety of contexts; gained an understanding of health education in a broad context; identify and acquire an understanding of the current and major issues in the Health and Physical Education context; developed an ability to apply sound teaching principles, concepts, strategies and methods for health and physical education across the K-6 curriculum; be able to plan and display some teaching competencies in a variety of physical activities.

Assessment: Assignment (curriculum task relevant to objective 1, 3000 words): 50% + Assignment (resource review and presentation relevant to objective 1, 1500 words): 20% + Practical activity (peer teaching assignment relevant to objectives 2, 2000 words): 30% + Hurdle requirement: 80% attendance.
