Synopsis:

Objectives: The broad aim of this unit is to help students to answer the following questions: 1 What is gender? What has gender got to do with education? What is ‘gender reform’ in education? 2 What are the various ways available to think about these questions? In terms of their own personal and professional experience and in relation to the readings, which are the most persuasive? 3 What are some of the big gender and education debates and issues of today and how can these best be understood and addressed?

Assessment: Reflective exercise (1500 words): 40% + Essay (2500 words): 60%
