Learning Technologies:Databases and Multimedia (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students should be able to identify and discuss the major legal, ethical and cultural issues currently impacting on educational computing; have developed an advanced understanding of how the computer and its applications can be used in the primary classroom as a catalyst for the development of children's thinking; have further developed advanced understandings and user skills necessary for the effective use of the computer; possess an advanced understanding of the concepts underlying flexible and inflexible databases, multimedia, communications and adventure game software and the rationale underpinning their use in the classroom; and have further developed a range of advanced procedures and practices for the effective use of the computer as a teaching and learning aid.

Assessment: Folio of practical work (1600 words): 40% + Essay (2400 words): 60%
