Experiencing the Australian Landscape (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit, students should be able to understand the historical relationship humans have had with the natural environment; identify how educational processes can contribute to a deeper understanding of wilderness experiences; demonstrate an awareness and understanding of aesthetic preferences the natural environment; demonstrate some understanding of the influence of wilderness experience on human behaviour; understand the therapeutic nature of a wilderness experience.

Assessment: Class paper presentation (equivalent to 1000 words): 10% + Written work (3000 words): 90%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week or equivalent

Prerequisites: + Quota of 40 students
