Foundations of Early Childhood Education (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have developed knowledge and understanding of a range of theories that have influenced early childhood practices and curriculum today; acquired knowledge of the evolution of early childhood services internationally; identified the historical, political, social and cultural factors that have influenced these; demonstrated the ability to reflect on and discuss a variety of philosophical approaches to early childhood curriculum and practices.

Assessment: Class presentation and paper (Equivalent to 1000 words) 30%. Essay (3000 words) 70%.
