Perceptual drawing (the figure) B (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.have skill in using an extended range of drawing materials and processes to confidently create dynamic relationships between the figure and its surrounding space; 2.possess an understanding of the relationship of drawing to colour in the creation and manipulation of form and space; 3.be capable of making drawings in a variety of sizes including the possibility of very large scale; 4.begin to recognise individual responses to the perceptual world and make independent judgements on the appropriateness of procedures and techniques for their description; 5.possess greater understanding of the philosophical, theoretical and aesthetic issues underlying the perceptual drawing process.

Assessment: By folio 100%. Initial project or work-in-progress is assessed in the first part of the semester and contributes a weighting of no less than 20% to the final assessment.

Contact Hours: 12 hours per week including 3 studio hours and 9 hours of independent study
