Synopsis:
Objectives: The objectives of this unit are to assist the student to: 1.Value the role that research evidence plays in clinical practice. 2. Develop skills in: (a) asking a clinical question which arises out of patient encounters in a way that maximises the chances of finding the best available answer; (b) Searching for the evidence; (c) Appraising the quality of that evidence; (d) Applying this evidence to an individual patient; (e) Know important evidence based resources for use in general practice; (f) Apply the principles of continuous quality improvement to increase the use of EBM in general practice; and (g) evaluate the individual students uptake of EBM in clinical practice and the impact that this has made on the care provided.
