Synopsis:

Objectives: Builds on knowledge and skills in relational databases and web page design. Databases in commercial web-based applications. Architectural scenarios for accessing databases through web page interfaces:- Microsoft Active Server Pages and PHP. Open Database Connectivity (OBDC), scripting techniques for accessing server-side databases and datastores, data entry and integrity checking through web documents, building dynamic web documents and implementing database transactions through web page interfaces. Strategies for enforcing data integrity, data security principles and techniques. Database and web page design concepts and their importance in the design of commercial applications.

Assessment: Assignments 40% + Examination (3 hours) 60%

Prerequisites: CPE1003, CPE2005
