Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit students are expected to demonstrate: 1. A critical understanding of academic and popular discussions of media globalisation. 2. Awareness of its consequences for audiences, national culture, social identity and policy response. 3. An ability to apply this awareness to a number of nations, including Australia, Malaysia, Singapore. 4. The capacity to use this knowledge in applied research.

Assessment: Essay (3,500 words): 40% + Essay (3,500 words): 40% + Seminar Presentation (2,000 words): 20%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week
