Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to: 1) design research so as to produce scientifically valid data and interpretations thereof; 2) understand and critically examine the research design and statistical analyses used in published research; 3) communicate their own and others research ideas effectively in written and verbal reports; 4) analyze statistical data using at least one statistical package

Assessment: Two statistics and research design assignments (750 words each): 20% + Methodology and report writing assignment (1000 words): 20% + Examination (2 hours): 40%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 1 x 1 hour laboratory) per week
