Graduate Diploma in Biostatistics

Course code: 3421 + Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash Medical School, Alfred Hospital + Full-fee-paying course: $10,400 (Australian residents) + Not available to international students

Aims

This course, offered over two years part-time, provides a broad understanding of the mathematical background, theory and application of the principles of epidemiology and biostatistical methods in health and medical research. The course articulates with the Master of Biostatistics.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a bachelors degree in science, psychology, medicine, pharmacy, nursing or other appropriate discipline. In addition, one year's work experience in a health-related area or an honours degree in mathematics or statistics is required. MPH2041 (Introductory biostatistics) or equivalent is a prerequisite.

Course structure

The course is taught in collaboration with seven universities under the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia. It is comprised of 48 credit points and consists of eight core units taken over a two-year period of four semesters. The course is not offered on a full-time basis.
