This course, offered over 12 months part-time, provides a broad understanding of the values and basic principles of biostatistical methods in health and medical research. The course articulates with the Graduate Diploma of Biostatistics and then the Master of Biostatistics.
Applicants must have a bachelors degree in science, psychology, medicine, pharmacy, nursing or other appropriate disciplines. In addition, they must have either at least one year's work experience in a health-related area or an honours degree in mathematics or statistics. MPH2041 (Introductory biostatistics) or equivalent is a prerequisite.
This course is taught in collaboration with seven universities under the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia. It is comprised of 24 credit points and consists of one core unit and three elective units taken over a 12-month period of two semesters. The course is not offered on a full-time basis.
Assessment consists of written assignments, practical exercises and examinations.
