General course information

The course provides knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and standards as well as practical and analytical skills in accounting that will assist managers to better understand the financial consequences of their decisions on their organisations.

Course structure

The course consists of four units from the following (semester availability is shown in brackets):

• AFG9040 Accounting theory and current issues (second semester)
• AFG9041 Auditing (second semester)
• AFG9044 Business finance (first semester)
• AFG9071 Introductory accounting (first and second semesters)
• AFG9072 Accounting for management information (second semester)
• AFG9073 Financial accounting (second semester)
• AFX9510 Quantitative methods (first semester)
• ECG9101 Economic policy (first semester)

Please note that some of the above units require completion of a prerequisite unit.

Professional recognition

Students who take this pathway will still need a degree qualification for entry to the CPA Australia or ICAA.

Articulation

Completing an executive certificate with at least a credit average will allow direct entry into the Graduate Diploma in Accounting.
