General course information

The Australasian Risk Management Unit offers people who are unable to attend formal tertiary institutions the opportunity of undertaking this highly sought-after degree by off-campus learning.

This tagged degree is designed to provide a degree structure with a major sequence of units in the area of risk management. It recognises the fundamental importance of risk management in today's commercial world and seeks to provide graduates with extended skills in these areas. It will also prepare them for the range of increasingly complex risk management issues they will face when employed in many areas of business and in government agencies.
The Bachelor of Business (Risk Management) provides a well-targeted, relevant course designed to meet the real-world needs of students and a wide-range of potential employers.

Majors

Students must complete a major sequence in risk management.

Supporting studies available

Supporting studies can be chosen from the other disciplines taught by the Faculty of Business and Economics or any other faculty. These supporting studies can, in some cases, form a second major in a business discipline.

Special requirements

PC requirements

To successfully complete the units to a high standard, it is becoming increasingly essential to have access to a Pentium 2 computer (or at a minimum, a Pentium 166 with Windows 95 or later), as a portion of the learning is via interactive tutorial disks. Students undertaking Business statistics will need to have access to an IBM-compatible computer and the spreadsheet package EXCEL (version 97 or above).

Course structure

The course is offered on a part-time basis only and is of six years duration by off-campus learning. Students are expected to undertake two units per semester and pass the equivalent of 24 semester units to be awarded the degree. Each semester is of 13 weeks' duration.
