Undergraduate courses

General undergraduate information

Unless otherwise stated in the individual course entry sections of this publication, or previously in the `General faculty information' section, information on entry requirements, contact details and application procedures for undergraduate courses are standard and are listed below:

Entry requirements

Gippsland courses
(a) Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

Units 1 and 2 - any two units from general mathematics and/or mathematical methods, or completion of the Open Learning bridging unit UNL31 (Introductory mathematics). Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in both English (any).

(b) Comparable qualifications

Applicants may also satisfy entry requirements with qualifications equivalent to VCE, eg TAFE qualifications or comparable Year 12 qualifications, including International Baccalaureate, or other approved tertiary study.

(c) Special admission

Students who have not successfully completed VCE or equivalent may satisfy entry requirements by completing at least two Monash non-award single unit or Open Learning (OLA) units with a credit average. A pass in a mathematics subject at Year 11 or above, or the Open Learning bridging unit UNL31 Introductory mathematics, is essential for entry. Caulfield courses
(a) Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in both English (any) and mathematics (any).

(b) Comparable qualifications

Applicants may also satisfy entry requirements with qualifications equivalent to VCE, eg TAFE qualifications or comparable Year 12 qualifications, including International Baccalaureate, or other approved tertiary study.

(c) Special admission

Students who have not successfully completed VCE or equivalent may satisfy entry requirements by completing at least two Monash non-award single unit or Open Learning (OLA) units. Assessment

Assessment is by a combination of assignments and final examination for each unit. Generally a pass is required in the final examination to pass the unit.

Completed applications are to be forwarded to the Student Administration Office, Faculty of Business and Economics - Gippsland, Monash University Gippsland Campus, Churchill, Victoria 3842, by 27 September 2003 to be considered for a first-round offer.

Caulfield courses

Bachelor of Business (Risk Management)

Note that applicants should clearly state the full name of the course to ensure that the correct material is sent, namely Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) or Bachelor of Business (Risk Management) by offcampus learning.
