Synopsis: This unit expands on SWK3260 by drawing attention to particular ideological critiques of existing welfare states. Attention is also drawn to the specific role played by interest groups such as ACOSS, the AASW, the churches, the trade unions and the business lobby. The impact of globalisation on Australian social policy is also examined.

Assessment: Interview with welfare lobbyist (1000 words): 25% + Major essay (3500 words): 75%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: SWK3260. Social Work units are available only within the context of the Bachelor of Social Work degree, or with permission.
