Community work: Theory and practice (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit explores the concept of 'community' and its applications in Australian society; the theory and practice of the various community work models (social planning, community development and social action); the role of community work in social work activities; and the skills involved in the practice of community work.

Assessment: Interview with community development worker (1000 words): 50% + Essay (3500 words): 50%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: SWK3240, SWK3120. Social Work units are available only within the context of the Bachelor of Social Work degree, or with permission.
