SCW4309Rethinking Received Ideas in Social Welfare (12 points)(ARTS) Leader: Dr John Solas
Offered: Synopsis: This unit provides students with a thorough grounding in the design of practice-based research. Common conceptual and methodological issues associated with research are reviewed. Particular emphasis is placed on an examination of both the intrumental and moral bases of social welfare research. The end and means of social welfare research in general and students' specific research priorities are interrogated. Assessment: Research proposal(4000 words): 50% + Seminar paper (3,500 words): 30% + Seminar presentation(1000 word equivalent):10% + Learning contract (500 words):10% Contact Hours: 2 hour seminar per week Corequisites: GSC4311 |
