Synopsis: Historical perspectives on the book and publishing as agents of change. A critical introduction to the history of publishing and the study of Australian publishing today. The study of the various cycles in the history of the book analysed and assessed.

Assessment: Long essay (5000 words): 50% + Class presentation: 10% + three short papers (1500 words each): 40%
