PHY3032Clinical and experimental cardiovascular physiology (6 points)(SCI) Leader: Dr Julia Choate and Dr Roger Evans
Offered: Synopsis: Explores cutting-edge research in the factors that maintain normal cardiovascular function, including the nervous system, hormonal factors, metabolic factors and kidney function. Details current research ideas on normal function and dysfunction in this area, and new methodologies. Emphasis is on assisted self directed learning and project based learning. Assessment: In-semester assessment will consist of oral presentations and 2000 word reports on projects or assignments and a practical test: 40% + Written theory examination (2 hours): 60% Contact Hours: Four 1-hour lectures and one 5-hour practical per week in weeks 1-6 Prerequisites: Any two of PHY2011, PHY2021 and PHY2032, or both BMS1052 and BMS2031 or permission Prohibitions: PHY3022, PHY3042 |
