PAR3030Ethical, legal and cultural issues (6 points)(MED) Leader: Associate Professor F Archer
Offered: Synopsis: This subject explores the elements of ambulance professional practice that include the legal constraints and responsibilities and ethical and moral behaviour expected of a health professional. The student will develop a better understanding of the community they serve through consideration of the sociological factors that affect health and well-being and response to illness. The systems and politics of health will be integrated into this exploration to provide context to the discussion. To aid learning and understanding this subject will provide examples of legal cases that support the theory and will include opportunities to debate current ethical issues. Assessment: Examination: 40% + Participation in debate: 15% + Assignment: 45% Contact Hours: 156 hours including 24 hours direct contact Prerequisites: employment by an Ambulance Service |
