Asian Performance Studies (6 points)

Synopsis: (i) Orchestral lessons, rehearsals and concert performances of selected works, (ii) the socio-historical and theoretical study of music and its repertoire in context, and (iii) guidance in composing works in selected Asian local style(s).

Assessment: Performance (including practice/performance diary): 50% + Music theory assignment: 10% + Essay (2000 words): 40% OR Composition assignment: 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 hour lecture and 1 hour practical performance class) per week

Prerequisites: Previous relevant practical experience and audition
